Around this time, 5 months ago, our dear Walter left this planet earth to be with his family and friends in paradise, the memories of those days still linger.
One Sunday I happened to go to the grave and was pleasantly surprised to see roses on Walter's grave, it really touched me, thank you so much that is the best best tribute for him.
Later I got to know who they were from, when I met Richard Fernandes from London recently here in Goa. Many thanks Ilona for the comforting card and thank to BMX London for the spiritual bouquet for Walter. My thanks also goes to BMX GOA for their tribute, their sponsorship towards the choir and the leaflets at the time of the Eucharistic celebrations and whatever each one of you had been doing for Walter.
May GOD Bless you all for all that you have done.

On the 20th of January, 2014, Walter celebrated his 70th birth anniversary with the Almighty Lord and His saints and angels.
Adv Antonio Lobo, Claudette, Tonia, Ze, Carlos and Teddy Nunes were with me we spoke of Walter, shared some memories and funny incidents. We also said some prayers and later, after dinner, Adv Antonio and Teddy cut the cake. Walter you have left behind a memory no one can steal. May you enjoy eternal bliss in His kingdom of righteousness and may your soul rest in peace forever. Sandra

You were a gentleman of high repute.A legend with exceptional qualities.
Great Intellect, musical minded an excellent all round sportsman & indeed very patriotic towards Goa.You had that physical strength & behaved like a general with commanding leadership that sent shivers down all our spines but you never misused it. to say the least you demonstrated this during the Goa Opinion Poll Campaign in 1969.Honesty and sincerity was the name of your game. You will go down Memory Lane as an icon. A true sincere&kindhearted individual who will be sadly and dearly missed. Without doubt you will be missed. For how long? Nobody knows!!!. One thing for sure we will all be joining you. When nobody knows!!!!! Adios our dearest Amigo. May you now REST IN PEACE From Richard Fernandes Sidcup London

Sandra - My heartfelt sympathies on the demise of our beloved Walter. During my visit in May 2013, I was sentimental to meet Walty after a few years to see him in bed. Wynoma, Tony Almeida and I shared the lovely old times for sometime - reminiscing on the great times we had at Xaviers. I reminded him of the great fight he had during the Opinion Poll where I personally witnessed the United Goans fighting the MGP Mob coming from Siolim meeting at the Mapuca Gardin. Walty and I were involved in a gig at the college dance in the library where we sang a
couple of songs which he clearly remembered. Walter was a cool guy who was challenged after a winning the Inter collegiate hockey tournament outside the hostel, as he was ticked off by Tony Almeida - He was so irate and told Almeida "Almeida - I'll kill you!! Oh what an experience when he was challenged by Almeida. He shared his eggs with me as I couldn't afford. I will always relish memories of Walty on the sports field - specially his position as a full bank for St Xaviers who killed the Chowgele College hockey team at their home ground in Margao. Walty my mate, we pray that you are at a better place and we will meet soon and form a hockey team without Tony Almeida.

We remember Walter as a great athlete, a lover of music, and a very good friend. He always stood for the weak. He was a true son of the soil and our hero during the opinion poll where he fought valiantly against goons from Maharashtra. He will always live in our hearts. I would like to convey our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Sandra and family.
